Importance of warm-up and cool-down before and after a TRX workout
Do you ever forget or get too lazy to do a proper warm-up and cool-down when working out with the TRX? You are not alone! It is something easily forgotten about, yet so important!
Warm-ups and cool-downs take just 5 to 10 minutes, and they make a big difference when working out with the TRX (and of course other forms of exercise).
A short warm-up prepares your body for your exercise by lubricating your joints and increasing your body temperature. Your muscles respond better to challenges if they're loose and warm, and it and helps you be more efficient and safer during your workout.
The hip flexors, hip joints, glutes and also the midback are important areas to focus on, because they’re all prone to stiffness and can be difficult to activate in exercise.
This blog post will take you through some videos demonstrating fundamental exercises for your warm-up and cool-down so you become even more of a pro at TRX!

Cool-down
Cool-down is equally as important as the warm-up. Here’s why:
After physical activity, your heart is still beating faster than normal, your body temperature is higher and your blood vessels are dilated. This means if you stop too fast, you could feel sick (digestion issues) or even pass out!
Skipping a cool-down leaves the body in an agitated state that's hyper vigilant, alert and stressed.
A cool-down after physical activity allows a gradual decrease at the end of the episode.
Skipping a cool-down also leaves blood lactate levels high and leaves muscles in their most shortened state, resulting in tight muscles and joints.
It’s good to stretch when you’re cooling down because your limbs, muscles and joints are still warm. Stretching can help reduce the build-up of lactic acid, which can lead to muscles cramping and stiffness.
But, a cool-down also has central nervous system benefits that help the brain and body disconnect from a "fight or flight" response and move into the "rest and digest" state.
Some good examples of TRX Cool Down and Stretching exercises are:
